Sometimes called A. elegans, this gigantic pipevine species hails from South America. It produces vines up to 15 feet in length, lined with broad triangular leaves up to 4 inches across. Happy plants wil ledventually form inflated buds that turn into blooms up to 5 inches across, with a bulbous greenish base and a narrow tube that curves up to a broad, flared opening veined or mottled with cream-yellow and maroon. As they mimic rotting flesh to attract flies for pollination, they don't smell very good, but are impressive to look at. Slightly smaller and easier to grow than similar species like grandiflora or gigantea.Available plants are seedlings with leaves currently 1-2 inches long, vines several inches and rapidly growing.
